←Back Home United Voices Making Days, Justice4Grenfell Collaboration

In the final year of my masters at Royal College of Art, the School of Communication moved to White City. Following the move, there was a feeling of a need to make positive connections with our new neighbourhood. Three peers and I set up the RCA Grenfell Solidarity Group and have been working closely and collaboratively with Justice4Grenfell to run a series of ‘United Voices Making Days’ hosted in the Latimer Road Community and at RCA White City. We facilitated different making stations and invited students and local families to come together and make material to keep up the voice in the lead up to the 1 year anniversary (14th June 2018).

Our aim is for this relationship with RCA and the Latimer Road community to continue to grow, and for the Grenfell Solidarity Group to have longevity at RCA. In October 2018 we ran a week-long engagement with current students themed around creating Light and Warmth for the winter silent walks, and the workshop outcome was held at the Henry Dickens Court Community Centre.

In 2019 United Voices Collective partnered with The House of Illustration and Kensington and Chelsea Council to run art workshops in local primary schools themed around 'resilience', focusing on schools as communities of healing in the aftermath of Grenfell Tower fire.
