I started working with a group of visually impaired adults in 2017, when I initiated the first creative workshops to be held at the Royal National Institute of Blind people. Over the past three years, I have led a programme of engagements that span poetry, performance, sculpture and drawing – with an emphasis on collaboration and discovery within the everyday.
In November 2019, we were successful in gaining funding from the Mayor of London’s Culture Seeds fund for our project Local Senses. Through this work, the group are being supported by three artists to develop techniques relating to the recording, encoding and communication of navigating outdoor space. We have continued our work remotely during the pandemic, and are working towards a publication and exhibition outcome.
